What is Muay Boran?

Muay Boran (ancient Muay Thai) is a group of traditional seeming Thai fighting styles derived from Muay Thai at the end of the 20th century AD.

Background

Muay Boran was developed in the mid-1990s (A.D.) when MMA (mixed-martial arts) began to drive Muay Thai out of the market. An economically oriented group of interests from Thailand then created a loose curriculum of techniques that were no longer allowed in sporting competitions (Muay Thai or Muay Veti) and imaginative show techniques that date back to a time after the withdrawal of the ancient Pahuyuth Free-Warriors (approximately from 1782 A.D.).

Just like the Krabi Krabong, Muay Boran has never been deployed in a warlike conflict.
