Martial art? Combat sports? Self-defence? – What is this all about again?

We teach Pahuyuth (pronounced Pah-hoo-yutt). Pahuyuth is an ancient Southeast Asian martial art that was developed, used and passed on by paramilitary Free-Warriors, mercenaries and special forces.

Pahuyuth is the martial origin of all Thai and many Southeast Asian martial arts (e.g. Muay Thai, Muay Boran, Bokator, Pradal Serey, Lethwei, Krabi Krabong and many more).

At the same time, Pahuyuth is a so-called combat knowledge, which is closely linked to a spiritual field of knowledge called Saiyasart and an independent naturopathy. All three fields of knowledge together form the so-called Traditional Free-Warrior Knowledge.

How does such a face-to-face training in Berlin work?

In principle, the training at the Pahuyuth School in Berlin works in the same way as our trial training, our online training or the training in a local hub. Self-discipline and initiative are an absolute must for our training in Berlin, because our pedagogical principle also applies here:

“We can show you the way to the restroom. But going there and … you have to do it yourself!”

Preparations

If you have not already done so, we recommend that you first complete our free online trial training.

In this way, you can get an idea of our training in advance and find out whether you like it or not. You will also learn the most important basics that you will need for your first live training.

Good to know: You do not have to master the 30 exercises and the techniques for beginners perfectly in advance to be allowed to train with us. However you should at least have seen them before and tried them yourself.
Your first live training

It’s simple. Sign up anonymously with your Warrior-Name via mail to [email protected], drop by and do your thing.

In this case, that would be the 30 Exercises and the first 15 techniques that you already know from the trial training and can start with immediately. Alternatively, you can join other beginners who may also want to practice this or other teaching content.

Important to know: There is no course with us in which you are told how exactly you have to design your training. Instead, we encourage an individual and self-determined training that is based on your learning pace and your abilities.
Who teaches me?

Since we practice learning by teaching at eye level (traditionally called the “principle of flowing water”), everyone who has been around a little longer than you acts as your personal trainer.

This means that they will willingly give you corrections and recommendations for your training, provide you with new knowledge if necessary and will always be at your side with advice and action – also to develop themselves further.

Good to know: Don’t worry about making mistakes as they are a natural part of the learning process. Everyone knows that you are a beginner and each of us has started the same way as you. We take this into account and are happy to show you how to proceed from there.

Pro tip 1: Don’t be shy. Instead ask as many questions as possible. The more you ask, the more of your questions can be answered. If you don’t ask questions or show any initiative to acquire new knowledge, you won’t get any answers.

Pro tip 2: Don’t take anything you are told for granted. Instead think through and question every move and every detail based on logic and rationality. In this way you can get the most out of your face-to-face training – for yourself and for everyone else!
What happens next?

You can participate in our face-to-face training up to three times free of charge, take your time to look around, get to know the people and then decide whether you want to book a membership or not.

The membership for students in Berlin consists of two parts: the membership of the Pahuyuth and a separate rental share for the respective training location / local hub. Details are listed below.

Good to know: There is no minimum contract period or the like. Both memberships can be terminated on a monthly basis without giving reasons.

What do I learn as a beginner?

At Pahuyuth there is a kind of “tutorial phase”, also called yellow belt or probationary stage. It includes the 30 exercises, the PQS of class 0 and a total of 45 techniques, as well as some theoretical knowledge and the so-called carrier’s worthiness. Only when these basics are successfully internalized, a further education (including sparring, etc.) makes sense.

Good to know: If you have completed the trial training, then you already know the 30 exercises and the first 15 of the 45 techniques, which means that you are basically already in the middle of the learning process for beginners. Use your time in our face-to-face training to practice, get corrections, and fill up the rest of the learning content. How fast or how slow you make progress is always up to you!

What do I learn as an advanced student?

Once you have successfully internalized the basics, you can take the so-called entrance exam and qualify as a full-fledged Pahuyuth student (green belt).

From this point on, the full spectrum of all seven Pahuyuth disciplines is available to you. In addition, we teach self-defense, Saiyasart, Sart Bambatgay and Yaan Meditation.

Good to know: The Pahuyuth teaching system works like a self-development-kit which you can use to develop a fighting style perfectly tailored to you and your likings. Whether and to what extent you “level up” within this system is always entirely up to you.

How do I learn?

Having to go to a school, gym, dojo, etc. and only being able to learn or train there is old fashioned. Our new hybrid training combines the best of traditional martial arts training and modern day e-learning.

At the Pahuyuth School we offer hybrid education. This means that we provide a large part of our teaching via our online program while the training in Berlin should be used primarily for practical exercises and hands-on corrections. The corresponding principle is called:

Because all our students have unlimited access to our online database and our member forum at all times, we are more independent than ever and can offer an even better training. Our system is time- and location-independent, lockdown-compliant, sustainable and even climate-friendly.

Did you miss a training? No worries. Do you have questions that have not yet been fully answered? No need to worry about that too. You can access all teaching content online at any time, work on missed topics and ask questions to other members and teachers worldwide at any time and receive valuable feedback for your development.

Do’s – Checklist for your first training

Comfortable shirt
That could be a simple cotton T-shirt for example. For safety reasons, please make sure that it does not have any buttons, zippers or sequins.
Comfortable training pants
Short or long it doesn’t matter – the main thing is that you feel comfortable in it and have enough legroom.
Additional T-Shirt
You’re gonna sweat. We therefore recommend packing one or two T-shirts for changing.
Optional: Water bottle
If you like, then pack yourself a bottle of water, which you can enjoy during the break.
Optional: Nutrition tip
The training can be physically very demanding. We therefore recommend not to eat for two hours before the training.

Dont’s – Safety Instructions

No buttons, zippers, cords, sequins, etc., please.
Your safety is important to us. Therefore, please make sure that your training clothes do not have any hard or sharp objects.
No jewellery, watches, earrings, piercings, hairpins, etc., please.
Please do not wear hard or sharp objects on your body in the training room. Not removable piercings can be masked or taped.
Please do not eat or drink in the training room.
Food and beverages are a safety risk. The best place to eat or drink is in the lounge area.
Please do not use alcohol or narcotics.
Anyone who is alcoholized or intoxicated is endangering themselves and others. Just stay at home and come when you are sober.

Anonymity and discretion

If you have already completed our trial training, then you know that we attach a certain importance to things like anonymity, discretion and data protection and that this is part of our traditions .

We really don’t want to know your name, where you come from or where you live. Accordingly, we will never ask you to tell us your real name, your phone number, your e-mail address or other personal information.

In return, we would like to ask you to respect the anonymity of the other participants and to use your self-chosen Warrior-Name during the training.

This may seem a bit strange to you at first, but after a short familiarization phase most of our students feel quite comfortable with being able to be a “no one” for a few hours a day.

How much does the pahuyuth membership cost?

In principle, you can participate in our training in Berlin up to three times free of charge and without obligation. Things like the 30 Exercises or the techniques and tutorials we publish on this website, you can of course practice at home as often and as long as you like.

In order to be able to support you in your individual development beyond that and in the best possible way, we have set up two membership fees, which must be paid separately:

Pahuyuth Membership

The Pahuyuth membership (see our online training)is the basic fee for all participants. We use this contribution for the preservation, provision and further development of traditional Free-Warrior knowledge.

Rental share for on location training

The rental portion is an optional add-on package for all those who want to participate in our face-to-face trainings. We use this contribution to cover the rent for the respective training location (see Local Hubs) and to maintain the respective local operations.

You get:

Access to the respective premises during Pahuyuth training times.

In other words: A protected space for your study practice among like-minded people as well as live feedback and corrections by classmates and teachers.

Payment of the rental portion is always made according to the terms and conditions of the respective hub:

Therapy Cube Charlottenburg: Donation of 5 € per / participation week

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the training suitable for?

The training is suitable for men and women from 14 years.

I have an injury/chronic illness. What shall I do?

The Pahuyuth training is physically and mentally demanding. We recommend that you consult a doctor before engaging in any physical or sporting activity. If you suffer from a permanent injury or chronic illness, please also let the trainers know about that before starting your training.

I am LGBTQ / LGBTQIA*. Is that a problem?

Why should it? Individuality, freedom and equality among people are among our core values. Our community has always been open to people of any origin, ethnicity, gender, religion or other characteristics. Just be yourself!

I want to fight you. Can I come over?

Before you consider trying to defeat someone, you should first learn to overcome yourself. Start with this.

How long do I need to learn Pahuyuth?

As long and as short as it takes. Your learning progress with us always depends only on you and your circumstances. For example, if you manage to acquire all the Pahuyuth knowledge within a month and successfully pass the (free) red belt exam, then that is perfectly fine for us. If it takes a little longer, then it takes a little longer.

Our recommendation: Take the time you need and enjoy the things you discover along the way. Then you will reach your destination quickly enough and in time!

How long do I need to pass the entrance exam?

This, too, depends on you, your willpower and your circumstances. Experience has shown that our students in Berlin need on average about four to nine months to qualify for the entrance exam. If you train more than two to three times a week (e.g. daily for several hours), then it could well be a little faster. If, on the other hand, you only do something for yourself once a month, it will take longer. Incidentally, the current record is twenty years, due to a very long stay abroad.

Why is your training so expensive?

The memory of poor quality lasts longer than the brief joy of a low price. Our members know that they always get more out of it than they invest. No matter how much they pay.

Why is your training so inexpensive?

We want to make the Pahuyuth knowledge accessible to anyone who wants to learn it. We would like to give it away, which we already do in parts with our free learning offers. It is said, that “Whoever cannot fight needs it and who can fight no longer needs it.” – By teaching those who need it to fight, we try to increase the number of people who no longer strive for violence and destruction on their own and thus make a contribution to the well-being of humanity.

Is there a minimum contract term?

For general Pahuyuth membership, Patreon’s usual terms and conditions apply. Normally, you should be able to cancel monthly. Find more details at Patreon Support.

Since the payment of the rental portion is subject to the terms and conditions of the respective Local Hub , we cannot give you any generally valid information about this. Please contact the hosts of the respective hub in this regard.

Can I simply take part in your face-to-face training (without online)?

The Pahuyuth membership (aka online membership)is the basic fee for all participants. The rental portion or participation in one or more Local Hubs is an optional additional package for all those who want to participate in our face-to-face trainings.

Where can I get your traditional training clothes?

The bright clothing you see in our pictures and videos has proven to be detrimental in the corona-related outdoor training of 2020 (e.B. because of grass stains), so it was retired by us. Most of us now wear a black T-shirt with the Pahuyuth logo (available in our Pahuwear shop), short black pants and the respective belt. An exclusive Pahuyuth T-shirt or hoodie will be sent to members automatically and at no extra charge after three or twelve months of membership.
