What is Seven Generations (Jed Kohd)?

Seven Generations (Jed Kohd) is a method of punishment that has been common in Southeast Asia for centuries.

Background

The dreaded “Seven Generations” punishment means that a total of at least seven relatives, starting with the elder family members, will be punished with death.

In the past this happened for example when a city king had to surrender to an enemy force, but was not willing to leave his city. Concubines and concubines were again not allowed to flee in the event of an attack, because their families would have been punished with the Seven Generations. This led, among other things, to the development of Pahuyuth scarf fighting (SABAI).

Over time, punishment became more and more common for private matters such as acts of revenge. This created an underworld that had classic traits of a mafia.
