What is a “technique from the grave”?

“Technology from the grave” is colloquially referred to as one or more counter-techniques, which are carried out as part of the partner training after receiving a potentially deciding technique. The one who is hit consciously or unconsciously ignores the effect under real conditions and, figuratively, strikes back “from the grave”.

Origin

“Techniques from the grave” occur, for example, when lack of attention or ignorance meets high training ambition. However, they can also be the result of autodynamic misalignment (see Model of Autodynamics) caused by using protective equipment, as these affect the haptic sensation. In some martial arts “techniques from the grave” are justified by hierarchical structures.

Training recommendation

It is recommended to maintain an honest and self-critical approach to “techniques from the grave” in training in order to replace corresponding reaction patterns with more appropriate ones over time. An open communication with the training partner can help with this.
