Background
Boua (Water Rose), also known in some stories as Maeh Boua (Mother Water Rose), was the stepdaughter of Kru Kun Plai. Although she had learned the fighting and magic knowledge from her stepfather, she focused on medicine, especially herbalism and water therapy, as her biological parents died of malaria (Keih Pah).
In her birthplace Lampun is the central worship area of San Jauw Maeh Boua. In modern times, a place of worship was also built in Bangkok, where she is venerated as the Divine Mother of the Earth (Jauw Maeh Torranie).
